This morning, the 6 of us(Dahuang,Daphne,Simin,Sue Min,Sylvia and I) went to AWRC for our CIP work.
Following the instructions given,we walked quite a distance after alighting from the bus before we found AWRC.
The route to AWRC(Janlan Lekar) is really ulu.

While on the way(it was raining)

There were a lot of mango trees and fallen mangoes along Janlan Lekar road.

Qian Hu Fish Farm(don't mistaken, this is not our destination)

    Finally found the place =D

We started off with cleaning up the volunteers resting area which includes the kitchen and the bedroom.
We washed the utensils and wiped the tables, and then we proceed to cleaning and tidying up the bedroom.
I surmise that the volunteers' bedrooms had been vacant for at least a few months because it was quite dusty.
What took us strenuous effort to clean up were not the bedrooms but the cupboards in the kitchen.
There was one cupboard upon opening,a strong funny smell dispersed around the kitchen.
It smell like some kind of mixture of rotten food and dead rats or so.
I almost got choked by the smell(not so exaggerating, but the smell is really unbearable).
It was MR MUSCLE which came to our rescue!
Sylvia took the Mr muscle and sprayed the whole of the cupboard and waited for the smell to become less stronger before Daphne went to clean it.
Dahuang and I while cleaning another cupboard,we threw away some food which were already expired.
We took a short rest after we are done with cleaning the volunteers area.

Nothing special about this, just that it was the cupboard which contains the very funny smell.
There's only a few bottles of sauces,I wondered how the smell came about...

Great effort from simin and dahuang who washed these gloves.

Ever since from young,I detest insects the most and till the extend that I even dreaded the sight of them.
Insects have the capability of making me tear.
Today,I really mustered A LOT of courage.
Though I was aghasted by the many millipedes and earthworms
roaming around the ground upon reaching,I tried my very best to draw my sight away from them and continued plucking the veins which were clutching to the metal fence(that was our one of our task too)
    I still hesitated anyway.
I felt so sorry that I've inadvertently killed a number of millipedes and earthworms while sweeping away the plucked veins and cut weeds.
I really admired Sylvia and Simin for their courage.
Unlike me,they did not scream at all when the worms were crawling under their feet.
I felt so ashamed of myself.

Other than sweeping outside in the open area,we were also did simple chores like sweeping the office and watering the plants that are not exposed to the rain.

    UH-OH~
I didn't get to know this cutie's name.

    The shop.
    I bought a badge~
It sell things that helps to promote awareness about cruelty that happens to animals.

Overall, the volunteering experience at the AWRC gave us a sense of fulfillment and helped me to become more insect-resistant(what a weird phrase).
Haha,my fear towards insect especially worms abated today due to the 'special' training.
The staff of ACRES only ate vegetarian for lunch.
This was what I came to know about when they offered to help us buy lunch from outside.
I've learnt that by eating vegetarian food, less animals get killed.
We could also freed the animals being breed just to end up in our stomach.
If you are curious about how AWRC looks like on the whole,go google ACRES then email them to request for voluntary work =)
